Conviviality Made in Italy: designer coffee tables
Practical and multifaceted, light and refined. Five tables designed by Maurizio Manzoni for Cantori, that best represent the Italian spirit of conviviality.
The perception and the use of space and distances, our body language, our understanding of personal contacts and relationships: proxemics, psychology of language, and semiology are all sister disciplines of interior design, which has the task of giving shape to these complex balances. Each of these aspects has deep cultural roots, which vary across individuals and places. In our Latin culture – as in the Arabic or South American ones – we find a much more developed propensity to close personal contact than, for example, what one can observe among North European or Asian populations.
MADE IN ITALY
Therefore, when we talk about Made in Italy in the world of interior design, we are not only referring to the high quality of products, to the virtuous, structured, and efficient supply chain, or to the tradition of artisanal manufacturing rethought in a contemporary key. "Made in Italy" also means giving concrete shape to our convivial attitude in spaces and furnishings, following the needs of modern life.
Consider, for example, the ritual of making coffee at home: it is a moment of connection among people, composed of recurring phrases and gestures, times and specific relationships, which are formalized in equally precise ways: with the family still sitting at the table or in the living room, during a conversation, or in front of the TV.
With its products, Cantori captures the essence of conviviality, characterized, by definition, by comfort and light-heartedness, in a simple and relaxed environment. The Florio, Atenae, Ninfea, Shanghai, and Montecarlo coffee tables all share the simple profile of pleasant moments spent in parts of our house intended for meetings and relationships. They are companions for our happy hours, supports on which to place some glasses or a book, a pair of spectacles, or any object dear to us. Cantori products adapt themselves to the character and spaces of the living area, featuring noble materials and refined details. In short, they are the embodiment of "Made in Italy", as we previously defined it.
FLORIO COFFEE TABLE
Florio coffee tables express a sophisticated classicism. Maurizio Manzoni designed a steel base with concave, curved sectors, creating elegant plays of light and dark that draw inspiration from the columns of Greek temples. The top is made of glass, with visible grinding at the top.
The product is available in three shapes and three sizes:
- the smallest table, tall and rectangular, is an excellent sofa-side table:
- the low and large table is ideal to be arranged in a classic way in front of the sofa;
- the particular shape of the L-shaped table makes it perfect to pair with a chaise longue, or sofas with a peninsula.
ATENAE COFFEE TABLES
Bases are made in curved metal and tops in marble, wood, or decorated metal.
The Atenae tables follow a minimalist design, and are meant to create different compositions or to be used individually, responding to the wishes and needs of those who dwell in the living area.
MONTECARLO COFFEE TABLE
With Montecarlo, Maurizio Manzoni creates an elegant composition, merging two wooden tops of different sizes and a steel structure with curved geometries.
A (hidden) feature of this piece of furniture is the possibility of being used as a trolley, thanks to wheels hidden under the lower shelf of the coffee table.
The top shelf slides into the metal frame, exposing a useful handle. Montecarlo is available in rectangular or square versions.
NINFEA COFFEE TABLES
Travertine, black ash, marble and stone framed by a light metallic structure.
The Ninfea set of coffee tables seems to float on an ideal body of water.
The tables can also be used individually, or employed as sofa-side or bedside tables, or again as discreet smoking tables.
SHANGHAI COFFEE TABLE
The Shanghai coffee table is characterized by vertical cylindrical elements made of forged solid iron, joined by a linear weave at the base.
The top, with irregular shapes, can be made of stone, marble, and wood, generating compositions with different tones and heights that create interesting movements in the living area.
